Farming is not just about hugging lambs. It's also about math, science, numbers, and calculus. These are what kids participating in Summer Synergy will learn. Yes, farm kids do hug lambs and ride their horses off into the sunset, but they also sit on the tractor, fix broken machinery, do rate of gain calculations. They know the rural lifestyle is a lot of hard work - and they love it!
Farming is not just about hugging lambs. It's also about math, science, numbers, and calculus. These are some of the skills kids participating in Summer Synergy will learn.
This week-long event has brought together over 1700 participants from an array of species, including beef, dairy, and sheep. Throughout the week, participants compete in their respective species with points being allotted from 3 species-specific activities, a Synergy Multi Judging competition, and a Synergy Marketing component.
Synergy students know the best part of waking up at 6 a.m. is knowing that your job matters. That the work you do is important. The fact that you are needed in the world. Because life isn't about what you have, it's about the experiences you have, the community you build, the friends you make. You get out what you put into life.

The Calgary Stampede, Olds Regional Exhibition, 4-H Alberta and Provincial Junior Beef Breed Associations are committed to providing a collaborative venue to showcase youth in agriculture by combining traditional elements with innovative approaches for personal achievement and development. Summer Synergy increases inter-breed interaction, improves financial sustainability, engages the public and enhances the profile of rural lifestyle and primary production. Summer Synergy is proudly presented by the Calgary Stampede Livestock Competitions Committee and International Youth Livestock Sub-committee. Summer Synergy has proven to be an event that is dedicated to the development of youth.
